Commercial cleaners are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of businesses, offices, and other non-residential environments. They ensure that spaces are clean, safe, and pleasant for employees, clients, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and Sanitizing:
- Clean and disinfect surfaces, floors, and equipment in offices, restrooms, and communal areas.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, including carpets and hard surfaces.
- Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
- Dust furniture, shelves, and other fixtures.
- Restocking Supplies:
- Replenish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other consumables.
- Specialized Cleaning Tasks:
- Use industrial cleaning equipment like floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and steamers for deep cleaning.
- Handle cleaning tasks for specific environments (e.g., kitchens, conference rooms, and bathrooms).
- Routine Maintenance Reporting:
- Notify management about any repairs needed or hazardous conditions (such as broken fixtures, leaks, or electrical issues).
- Adherence to Health and Safety Standards:
- Use proper protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning chemicals safely.
- Follow guidelines to prevent contamination and cross-infection, particularly in high-traffic or sensitive areas.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work with other staff members to ensure that tasks are completed on schedule.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and respond to feedback.
The work schedule is 9- 10 hours daily (additional hours are possible upon agreement). 6:30 AM–4:00 PM, 5 working / 2 no fixed weekend days.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Education: No formal education is typically required,
- Experience: Previous cleaning experience, especially in commercial settings, is often preferred but not always required.
Skills:
- Attention to Detail:
- Ability to spot areas that need cleaning and ensure that high standards are met consistently.
- Time Management:
- Must manage time efficiently to complete all tasks during a shift.
- Physical Stamina:
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift items throughout the day (lifting up to 50 pounds may be required).
- Knowledge of Cleaning Products:
- Understand which cleaning products are appropriate for various surfaces and how to use them safely.
- Communication:
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, as well as communicate with team members and supervisors.
- Health and Safety Awareness:
- Familiarity with cleaning protocols, including handling chemicals safely and adhering to health and safety regulations.
Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):
- OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Training: This may be required or beneficial to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Specialized Equipment Training: Certification or training in the use of specific cleaning machinery, such as floor buffers or industrial carpet cleaners.
Other Requirements:
- Flexibility: Willingness to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, or holidays, depending on the employer’s needs.
- Reliability: Punctuality and dependability are crucial, especially in maintaining schedules and cleanliness standards.
